emberumAn lies on tiruvanandAzhwAn in tiruppErai. I shall uplift myself by chanting His thousand names. I shall meditate on His guNas which He reveals to His Baktas. I shall meditate on His form which is dark like cloud holding SanKa and chakra in His hands. I shall meditate on His nature which is exactly as revealed by vEdas. He is real to those who believe Him and false to those who don’t believe Him. He is very grateful to those who always worship Him and seek only His tiruvaDi as their refuge. He employs such dAsas in His kainkarya (aDimaiyAkkum). He resides in this divya dESa which is beautiful with lotus flowers grown as weeds in the fields and forests.

Our swAmi has eaten up all the worlds, mountains, seas (along with the ships sailing there), sky etc. etc. during praLaya and manifests them as they were before during creation. He resides in ten tiruppEr where there are thick forests whose tall trees touch the bottom of the moon and pierce the clouds. I shall chant His names and find my salvation.

emberumAn created brahma from His nABi kamala. He relieved Siva of his curse by giving sweat from His tirumArbu. (some AzhwArs say it is the blood from His tirumArbu—keeru tingaL vaittavan kai vaittavan kabAl miSai ooru SengurudiyAl niraitta (tirumazhisai AzhwAr). Whatever it may be, Sreeman nArAyaNa removed his curse (caused by cutting one head of brahma, his father) is the important message here. He ordered brahma to create the world, and also ordered Siva to go and rule the worlds—revealing His niyAmakatva. It is He who reclines on tiruanandAzhwAn like a huge dark mountain over a silver mountain to do His rakShaNa kArya.

It was rudra who was holding a kapAla (which stuck to his hand) in which pieces of flesh were sticking (of brahma’s head) begging everyone, roaming over all the worlds, to remove his curse. It was sreeman nArAyaNa who poured His sweat from His tirumArbu and relieved him of his curse. He resides in tiruppEr which abounds in the wealth of forests and fields. AzhwAr says he will for ever be chanting His names and find purpose of living.

AzhwAr says He worships His tiruvaDi who split open the mouth of dantavaktra and who once split open the chest of hiraNya with His nails as weapons when dEvas pleaded to protect them from the asura. When narasimha came from the pillar He laughed like thunder and grew large with a fearful look, killed the asura and was pleased at His act which brings happiness to dEvas and prahlAda.

AzhwAr speak of avatAras or chEShTitas not in the order that it occurred. Here narasimhAvatAra occurred earlier and kriShNAvatAra occurred later. Similarly periyAzhwAr speaks from the mouth of yaSOda – dEnukanum muranum tiN tiral vennarakan enbavar tAm maDiya Seru adirachchellum Anai enakkoru kAl Sengeerai. When kriShNa was a mere child yaSOda play with Him but narrates His exploits which occurred later. There is no discrepancy since it is both AzhwAr and yaSOda who are the same.

Sakkara Selvan— Normally the chakrAyudha takes whatever form suitable for that occasion. But when narasimha avatAra was taken, the chakrAyudha remained as a ornament in His hand since the nails were enough to do the job of killing.

Sree rAma cut off the twenty arms and ten heads of rAvaNa, the king of lankApuri for the sake of seeta pirATTi . He first built a bridge with huge boulders with the help of vAnara sEna and covered the sea to reach the lankApuri. With His powerful bow He destroyed the city and rAkShasas effortlessly. He resides in tiruppEr where vaidika brAhmaNas live who chant loudly the four vEdas on the banks of rivers, on hearing which the fish (malangu) jump out of fear. This divya dESa is famous for its vaidika brAhmaNas and fertile fields.

yaSOda who got Him after much tapas and vratas got angry when He ate lots of butter by stealing. She lifted the churning rod to beat Him but took pity on Him. She bound Him to a mortar with a small rope full of joints (kaNNi nuN SiruttAmbinAl kaTTuNNa paNNiya perumAyan). In fact He allowed Himself to be bound, for otherwise who can ever bind Him who is parabrahma? (veTTenru irundAn). He resided in tiruppEr which is a beautiful city surrounded by beautiful strong forts. AzhwAr says, if anyone chants His thousand names everyday He shall certainly attain mOkSha.

Sree kriShNa killed the seven strong wild bulls (Eru konrAn) in order to marry nappinnai pirATTi (kooDudarku) when the people of seven worlds of AyarpADi were looking at Him. He resides in tiruppEr which is surrounded by forts made of gold and where I like to sing His names forever.

The brAhmaNas residing in the divya dESa called tiruppEr are exponents in four vEdas like rik etc., vEdAngas like sikSha etc. five maha yajnas like dEva yajna etc. They are greater than dEvas residing in heavens and other lOkas since in their hearts live He who resides there forever. They live in His hearts too. AzhwAr says perhaps He consider me too as one of those brAhmaNas and hence resides in my mind.

About emberumAn who lies on tiruvanandAzhwAn and who permanently resides in tiruppEr, tirumangai AzhwAr has sung ten pASuras of beautiful tamizh, a garland words. Those who read them, sing and dance with BAva will certainly go to paramapada.
